Acme Consumer Product Recall – May 2023

Acme United Corporation in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling specific PhysiciansCare over-the-counter OTC medications, which were purchased by consumers for household use only from Amazon.com between January 2021 – August 2022. The products involved are PhysiciansCare brand: Allergy, Allergy Plus, Cough & Cold.

The reason for the recall is the over-the-counter products identified above contain regulated substances (diphenhydramine hydrochloride, and acetaminophen) which must be in child resistant packaging when being used in the household as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The packaging of the products is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

There are no known issues with the quality of the pills. Product purchased for office or industrial use is not being recalled.

The products involved are PhysiciansCare brand: Aspirin, Extra Strength Non Aspirin, Extra Strength Pain Reliever, Ibuprofen, Medication Station, and Multi-Pack.

The reason for the recall is the over-the-counter products identified above contain regulated substances (aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen) which must be in child resistant packaging when being used in the household as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The packaging of the products is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.
